Belated Happy New Year
Posted by Bill on February 7th, 2007
Yes, what with the Pinter on and the BBC gigs imminent I haven’t got round to wishing everyone a Happy New Year yet, so as the freezing damp of February has cocooned me indoors, I thought I’d take this opportunity. Just a quick note to let you all know about our New Year experience. We played Balderdash a lot, and stayed indoors. Making up nonsense while eating tiny bits of icing. Marvellous! On New Years Day, I had this brilliant, some would say ill-advised, nay reckless, plan to have a barbecue on the beach. In the shed I had found one of those self-lighting types, which have a brief incineration window of 18 seconds, during which time if you lean over they singe your eyebrows off. Nothing cooked as we all huddled in the dunes, and there was plenty of helpful advice, as in ‘why don’t we go to a cafe?’ . The biting wind did nothing to help, and coated everything in a fine layer of sand. It was a triumph! Then we went to a cafe.
speak soon

Hi Bill,
and a happy belated new year to you too. First saw you with The Rubber Bishops at Glastonbury, been a big fan ever since.
Take care, hope you might think of touring the Southwest of England soon, particularily Barnstaple Queens Theatre or the Landmark (Madonna’s Bra) in Ilfracombe.
Take care,
Ray

Hi Bill,
SVT (the Swedish BBC) was well behaved enough to show Half Troll and I haven’t laughed that much since the last time I laughed that much. The line “don’t use Dolby on snake detectors” has kept me smiling for three days. And although I happen to be a big fan of Kraftwerk it appears I have managed to miss the particular song you performed (great dance as well). Keep it up, please.

Hi Bill!
Like Ola, I watched the your show on SVT, and I admit, it was the first time I saw you.
And I was stunned. It was just such a great show, I laughed out load, when I sat there alone in my sofa. I was truly amazed, I have never in my life seen such a brilliant show!
Anyway (and I’m sorry if my English is quite bad), I just wanted to say THANK YOU!
You’ve lightened up my life
So, thanks once again. Keep up the good work!
/Sofie

Hi Bill,
Happy New Year to you too, my day has been quite uneventful so far today, so I thought I’d comment you.
I’m going to see Pinter’s People on the 23rd, and I can’t wait, I’m a big fan of yours but haven’t seen you yet. Hopefully I can see you when you are touring in Autumn.

Hello Senor Bill Bailey (i know it’s spelt wrong but i don’t have a Spanish keyboard so…)
I am an aspiring stand-up comedian and you are, pretty much, my greatest inspiration. Despite i’ve never perfomed a written stand-up show, i do make my friends laugh with my Bill Bailey/Eddie Izzard inspired gags.
Do you have any gag advice?
P.S i’m 15, by the way?

I’ve been wary of barbeques ever since one exploded at my ninth birthday party. Tipsy relatives + fire = Extensive Property Damage.
Glad you had a good New Year, with no serious injuries.

Hey bill, I don’t know if you are gonna actually gonna get round to read this but you did publish the blog on my birthday, i am just not very into blogs. I saw you in Edinburgh last year when they showed the wrong video at the end of the show. I loved it and can’t really wait to see you live again. Loved Hot Fuzz. Nobody tells me nothing.

Hello Bill,
Saw you at Watford last night and felt compelled to post a comment!
I’m sure that everyone who went would agree with me when I say that the show was absolutely awesome!! You were obviously in your element and loving every minute.
If ever there was a show that should be released on DVD, it’s this one!!!
Hope to see you live again next time you’re on tour.
Keep up the excellent work,
Cheers

hey,
just stubbled on site, and found the comment making facilities rather wonderful lol. i’m currently located in Australia where i must say that though i’m only 15 your “black books” and Part troll tour have been the basis of my and my friends sense of humour. can’t tell you how much your adored at Sandgate State High but your attempt at writting a love song (part troll tour) is absolutely the best song i’v had the pleasure of repetitively annoying my mother with lol.

Hey Bill! Lovin the blog.
I happen to be the older, wiser, and prettier-and generally superior in most ways-sibling of Josh who works on this website.
Funnily enough, we spent much of our time together over Xmas playing Balderdash with the family! What a game! Maybe you could take the time to explain the rules in your next blog? The point is you DON’T make the stories so elaborate that everyone guesses its you and you spend the whole game on the first square!!!!
P.S. Happy Birthday to Josh for Feb 29th (that never happened!) Guess what he got for his birthday?
…………………….
Balderdash!!!!!!
