For Your Consideration

You may be aware that Bill Bailey has written a book. But it's not the Bill Bailey you're thinking of, nor is it his doppelganger/reflection in a highly-polished cheese counter. The Bill in question is Sergeant Bill Bailey, who flew bombers during World War II, and has recently published Alone I Fly, an account of his experiences.

The sole survivor of a disastrous bombing mission in North Africa, Bill spent days alone in the desert awaiting rescue. Later serving on several other unusual posts, and flying in many more dangerous missions, he managed to survive through his determination and ingenuity.

A vivid and honest account of his truly extraordinary experience, this is a unique and memorable book which deserves to reach a wider audience. But, I hear you ask, is there any reason, besides authorial name, that it should be mentioned here?

Well, yes. Bill read the book himself and loved it, finding it gripping, and a fascinating picture of wartime life, and wanted to use this opportunity to encourage you to check it out. So why not show your continuing, unprejudiced support for Bill Baileys of all varieties by visiting Sgt. Bailey's website, and ordering yourself a copy.

I've searched amazon for Bill Bailey things. And I came across a book called Comedians Of Violence, by Bill Bailey. I didn't think that Bill had written a book, and then found that it was not a book written by him, but still wonder if Bill has read the book, and thought it any good.

Nice of you to help publicize the WW2 Bill Bailey's book Alone I Fly Bill,I read it myself and found it really good, completed it in 3 or 4 sessions.....From Ireland(land of Dylan Moran I hardly need tell you) myself -anymore seasons of Black Books in the pipeline?!

Well a big THANK YOU to Bill for highlighting my father-in law's story! He is elderly and not that well so its really uplifting for him to hear all the positive comments coming from various sources. He always had confidence that he had written a good and readable story. It really is amazing that he is still alive after all he - and many others - had to go through. It is certainly wonderful that Bill and other readers justify the optimism he has shown in getting this book to print.
It was actually only his goal to get it published so that future generations would realise the sacrifices that men and women of past generations made to keep this country free from oppression. So to be able to have the opportunity to sell a few is a bonus!
The book is currently print on demand which means the author paid to have it printed so all sales help him recover his costs.

HOWEVER if there is a publisher out there who would like to consider this title for mainstream publication, please do get in touch.

Finally a quick reminder on how you can get one - from the website www.aloneifly.com; from some bookshops; from online bookshops and usually from Ebay. Full details on the website.
Many thanks again for your support.

Ronnie Green - Sgt Bill Bailey's son-in-law.
