Oh Bill Bill Bill, you are clearly such a lovely person that it makes me cry a bit. Bless you for supporting and promoting the work of those helping these poor animals to have a better life. Entirely splendid show at the Gielgud last night, by the way. May every happiness be yours in 2009. A big gay kiss from me. X

Hey Bill,
You know the old gag of the taxi driver saying 'I had him in the back of my car'? Well I remember very well that i did.....and not in the biblical sense lol! From the first time i saw you on telly and shouted out 'I know him!!!' I've carried on delighting in your wit, since a mad road trip when i drove around all night for a reason that is a little vague (or perhaps there wasnt one....who can now tell!!!,) after going back to Lel's house after a night out at the Bear many many years ago. Doubt you rembember me from that night as your driver, and you definitely wouldn't recognise me as no-one does since i lost weight lol! but seen you at glastonbury years ago, and at the last beautiful days.
Anyway, I'm really so happy that you've got the recognition that you so deserve.
Your still pmsl,
Nicky
P.S. Tried to post this on the Festival strand but it wasnt playing ooops!

Hi Bill, Just saw you at the M.E.N. (amazing show!) I was really pleased to hear about you helping animals, I didn't know that (shoulda done my research) its great to see someone using their fame for such a good cause, my cousin (I won't name him) is famous and does jack squat, but anyway i'm waffling on. You'll probably never read this but why don't you make a documentary on the Seal Cull in Canada (I bet you already know all about this) or do something to raise awareness, I recently did a small presentation on the subject and not one person there knew it was going on let alone all the horrid details about it. I really want to do something to help but I feel so powerless, all I can do is raise a penny here or there.

Just an idea, but anyway amazing show once again, I had a great time *rock on!*

Love and Malibu,
Leigh x

Hey there folks, and Bill. The sanctuary is incredible. A friend of mine was there for a day, and still talks about it. Please support these creatures. And come to New Zealand, everyone, because There Is No Depression In New Zealand. There Are No Sheep On Our Farms.

At the time of year when all the attention seeking, plastic faced "celebs" will be jumping on the publicity machine that is "Children in Need" it's great to see someone try to do something to publicise & stop such accute & preventable suffering. I've no doubt kids in need do some good work but buying electric go-karts for disabled kids pales into insignificance when you see things like that. If we can't accept our duty bound responsibility towards animals how on earth can we claim to be civilised? Soap box away now, off to sweep up the blanket of rice krispies & tackle the mountian of laundry, whoop-de-flaming-do.

Studying Grizzly Bears in the Wild

Above is a link to Charlie Russel's website & project, involves bears as well. After we saw this on TV, we located his website and wrote him a note, expressing our support and respect for what he does. He replied with the following: Thanks for you very nice letter and your understanding. What young people need is better information when it come to thinking about animals. Universities have to change there curriculums and science has to become more sensitive and truthful. Lots of things to change and it is happening slowly. It's so crucial to consider animals as fellow-residents on this planet and be aware we're not above them simply because we're the species we are. I look at the tiniest insect sometimes and now know (thanks to David Attenborough's documentaries, ha) that they are cleverer and better equipped than we humans will ever be. Compare an ant carrying 50 times his own weight, right... what if we needed to do that, can you even visualise... material for a joke as well in some way, because if you're anorexic a feather will do the trick, right?

We're Dutch but live across the border in Belgium and we loved watching Black Books which introduced us to three wonderful whacked comedians/actors and such. Since they don't have BBC2 in this part of Belgium, we do miss out on the Buzzcocks, alas, ever since we moved a few kilometers because as you might know, Belgium is a divided country with different languages (Flemish, French and German) and priorities. BBC2 is not one of them in the Frenchy quarters. So all we get to enjoy now (tonight episode 2 of the new Jonathan Ross Show this season) is an occasional appearance. We are considering purchasing one of Bill's DVD's but have to think about it a while because we're not sure if it's within our budget and policy. It's fun to find the crappiest pile of dvdjunk for a measly euro or 2, but to spend more money would really require a few one-to-self sessions in deep contemplation. Would it be a responsible thing to do? Doesn't it pave the way for poverty once we discover all of mr. Bailey's DVD's cry out to be freedumped from their cellophane straightened jackets?
All these words just to express our sincere thanks for what it is mr. Bailey does.
Toodles,
G. and N. (but N. is actually not here now, he does think mr. Bailey is brilliant. yes.)
